Sacred Arts at Bryn Athyn College
Winter Session at Bryn Athyn College saw the first class of glass painting at Bryn Athyn taught by artist/educator, J. Kenneth Leap (see below). Eight students participated in the class and learned stained glass techniques including glass cutting, leading, soldering, fusing, painting and silver staining. The students completed a series of panels during the class ranging from simple exercises in leaded glass construction to reproductions of silver stained panels based on renaissance examples. The final project included panels of the students’ own design which had to include a copy of a medieval head and a self portrait. The solutions to this challenge were highly inventive and can be seen below.
