I've collected and tried to work with agate slices before. No doubt they're a cool natural object. But I was never able to improve on the single slice, or enhance the awkward egg shape with any surrounding border treatment. I'm not crazy about the dyed ones either. The world needs more deep set lancet windows for us to work with. They should be required at the end of every hallway and staircase. - db
